Sometimes it’s just a grind. So many edges to cover once the pieces are sized. Not to mention the 24 quarter circles that need to be precisely sized before applying the various mahogany edges. Not a super exciting post, but a lot of the time woodworking is just A grind!😂

Step one-substrates. This fish tank surround will be comprised of 1/8 poplar, 1/8 hydrotech, mahogany, crotch makore, Macassar ebony and about 5 gallons of west systems epoxy. Here we go!

I realized we never posted finished photos of the walnut burl and ebony piece we finished last year. Here are a couple quick iPhone pics. We will need to take some proper photos of this 👁 popping piece for sure. The sequencing was intense on this piece, even the pierced grills are sequenced, although tricky to see in these photos.

Okay, who’s ready to curl up, read a good book and watch the sunset? It isn’t 100% finished, but couldn’t resist sharing some photos at this point. This room has been an enjoyable and tremendous effort. With the exception of the vertical partitions in the bookcase, every piece is in this room is curved (and beautiful if I may say so)🤯🤪😂😅🙏🏻

It was fun to play with the veneer and come up with different patterns for the ceiling. This is the one we liked best. Left half is CAD image, before we even turned on a saw. The right image is how it turned out. Now that it’s all built, time to install! Step one, the lid 😃 how do you get a 10’ dia. cone through a door opening and into the room??
